Avoid the Hiring Rush: Proactive Hiring Strategies for 2025

5 Minutes

Evie Barker our Agency Recruitment Manager is very close to the daily changing landscape of hiring and the importance of proactive recruitment strategies. In her latest blog post, she discusses the challenges businesses face in securing top talent, the benefits of early hiring, and effective onboarding practices. By considering these factors now, organisations can set themselves up for success in 2025.

Evie's expertise provides valuable guidance for organisations looking to build high-performing teams and achieve long-term success.

If you're looking to make a significant impact and set your business up for success in 2025, it may be time to consider your hiring strategy now.

In today's very competitive job market, securing top talent can feel like a constant uphill battle, so getting in there first could give you an advantage.

If we compare the current job market to previous years, we’re seeing that more candidates are content within their current roles and aren’t actively searching for new positions, there’s a skills shortage within homegrown talent and the availability of remote workers means employers are competing with global businesses to secure candidates.

Candidates have become more selective, and priorities have changed over recent years highlighting the importance of employer branding. Moreso than ever we’re seeing the need for businesses to invest more time and adopt new strategies in attracting passive candidates to address these conditions.

By hiring proactively and securing top talent now, you could have a highly skilled candidate ready to join your team in Q4 this year.

My advice is to take the following approach which offers several key advantages:

Avoid the last-minute scramble: Secure top talent before they're snatched up by competitors.

By hiring now, you'll have a head start in securing the best candidates ahead of 2025. The top talent will already be planning their next move and may be open to opportunities that align with their long-term goals. Hiring in the last quarter of the year or at the beginning of January can be hectic and stressful. By starting early, you can avoid the rush and make more informed hiring decisions.

Onboard new hires effectively: Give your new team member time to settle in and contribute fully.

When considering a new hire, the consideration of the candidate’s existing 3 months-notice period must be taken into account as it’s still in full effect at many marketing agencies, meaning the most in demand talent will be contracted to their notice period. Also consider an onboarding period which allows new hires to fully integrate into the company culture, learn the ropes, and start contributing meaningfully from the start of 2025.

Plan ahead for 2025: Start building a strong foundation for your team's growth and success.

Anticipate potential key departures or promotions ahead of January for potential critical roles and ensure continuity of operations and consider market conditions, hiring now might offer cost savings compared to the potential for increased salaries or higher demand for talent come the January rush.
