Marketing Director Recruitment
Case Study: Marketing Director Recruitment
How we successfully delivered the brief
Introduction via a business consultant and successful pitch
The business was introduced via a referral from a business consultant who was aware of our leading position in the market for Digital and Marketing recruitment. We were introduced to the client and pitched successfully for an interim role after profiling our Executive Search Department. After successfully placing that role, we were briefed on this more senior role within the business as we proved we understood their culture and recognised what would be required for a hire at this level.
The Brief for a Marketing Director
With the backing of private equity, the company sought a commercially focussed, entrepreneurial thinking Marketing Director who could embrace their values and spearhead their growth strategy in a digital-first environment. The challenge was to find a candidate who not only possessed the necessary skills and experience but also fit seamlessly into the company's culture. We agreed with the client that the role would have a competitive base, impressive benefits package and the opportunity to realise equity within the business. This was all agreed during a consultative process undertaken with the client during the recruitment project planning session.
Recruiting the final and one of the most important role within a restructure
The business was rebuilding their entire business team and wanted to introduce a new culture to the business. They had already invested in a new CTO and this was one of the final and most crucial roles who would also deploy a marketing strategy. We were briefed to recruit a candidate who would manage an in-house team and external agency roster and have the opportunity to grow and develop their own team whilst leading from the front with a hands-on approach. Other requirements for the role included having experience of lead generation, ideally from a SaaS / software background. It would be someone who could work in this unique and agile business who are looking to double their ARR and are ready to recruit a candidate who has the ability to build relationships and communicate with senior stakeholders.
The Approach
Executive Search Recruitment: structured, methodical and professional
Laura, our Recruitment Board Director, utilised a structured and methodical recruitment process to identify and secure the ideal candidates. She sourced six suitable candidates, three of whom progressed to the second stage. She maintained a thorough understanding of the client's needs, communicated effectively, and provided detailed information throughout the process. Her professional approach ensured the client’s needs were met with candidates who matched their skills and experience.
The identified candidates were sourced from various channels including social media activity, referrals, the extensive database developed from 12 years business recruitment activity and from job advert inbound leads. The successful candidate came from an application into the business after we constructed a targeted advertising campaign targeting various levels, salary expectations and geographies.
The Outcome
A successful outcome with the candidate still active in the business after 2.5 years
The recruitment process concluded successfully with the appointed Marketing Director commencing their role in the third month from brief. The appointed candidate was well-aligned with the company's values and possessed the digital-first mindset required to accelerate growth.
After a 5 and a half-week process from brief to offer, the client had successfully secured their new Digital Marketing Director. At the time of writing, 2.5 years after the hire, the successful candidate remains in the business.
